On March 11, 2023 the Nouvel Science Olympiad team traveled down to Frankenmuth for their regional competition. The team has worked hard all season to prepare for this. They have met every Saturday morning to get their materials ready and to practice with their partners. Their goal in regionals this year was to beat Frankenmuth and to make it to states. This year students were able to make it to states if they received a first place medal. Jessenia Olascuaga and Zeke Boyd placed first in Bridge. Jessenia and Zeke will travel to MSU to compete at States on April 22

Not only did the team come home with a first place medal, they also had 5 groups placing second in their events and also earning medals. Aiden Pinkerton and Brady Vance in Anatomy and Physiology, Sydney Leslie in Environmental Chemistry, John Budd in Forensics, Drew Carlson and Tony Kamano in Remote Sensing, and Matthew Kontur and Andy Wagner in Scrambler.

Said sophomore Sydney Leslie, “We have such a fun time everywhere we go and there is never a dull moment. It is fun to learn and compete. We did well overall and I am really proud of everyone and the effort they put in to be their best.

The team would like to thank coach Wagner for her time and effort to keep the team going, and Mrs. Moore for helping at the invitationals she came to. They would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs Rangitsch for coming on on their weekends and through the week to help them prep.

The Science Olympiad team had a great season and hope to see many more improvements next year.
