Girls Varsity Soccer

Despite the poor weather, Girls Varsity Soccer is back at it for the season. The girls played Bloomfield Hills Marian at Marian as their season opener. Unfortunately, Marian’s squad came prepared and went off to mercy our girls.

Regardless, our girls have potential to do well this year, with 6 starting seniors. The girls started training in the middle of January. Pre-season workouts are very important to get the players in shape. However, it is much more important for practices outside on the field with soccer balls. With this winter, it has been impossible for that to happen.

Last year, the girls Varsity lost in the regional finals in an intense match up with Lansing Christian. It is hopeful for the girls this year to go just as far, maybe even further.

One major change to this season, the girl’s soccer program has combined. Without enough players to fill a JV and a Varsity team, the program was forced to combine. This has enforced multiple cuts to occur, and the Varsity team is now filled with more than 22 people, but streamlined and ready for success.
