The season for the Nouvel Boys Varsity Soccer team began in late August, and it got off to a fast start with two victories in their first two matches. For their first win, the Panthers defeated Elkton-Pigeon Bay Port Laker 8-0. They then went to a tournament at Flint Kearsley and played matches against Birch Run and Flint Kearsley. The Panthers defeated Birch Run 4-3 for their second win of the young season, but would fall to Flint Kearsley in the championship. Not long after, they faced Standish-Sterling, which ended in a 3-4 loss, setting their record at 2-2. The team recently played Hemlock this week with only 10 players and came out with a 4-1 victory. When asking Senior captain, Marco Olascuaga, about the soccer team, he said, “Our team has definitely improved from last year and we are hoping to go farther into districts this year, but there are still little things we need to work on.” Their next game is on September 11th at Ithaca at 5:30 pm. Ithaca currently sits with a 4-4 record, also beating Hemlock by 3 goals. Best of luck to the Panthers!
