This past Thursday, the senior class got to volunteer at the Winter Special Olympics which was held at Apple Mountain. Each year the senior class volunteers at the Winter Olympics and the junior class volunteers at the spring olympics. At Apple Mountain, either one or two of the seniors were paired with an athlete and spent the whole day with them. The day started with an opening ceremony before heading off to events. The athletes competed in certain events they were signed up for including downhill skiing, snow shoes, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. In between events, they took breaks to enjoy some hot chocolate and lunch. This year was a great experience to volunteer and to see all of the smiles on the athletes faces.
