Varsity Football continues to be Nouvel Strong, as week three saw a 35-0 shut-out against Clarkson Everest. Quarterback Tate Hausbeck ’18 threw for two Panther touchdowns and Back Alex Wrobel ’18 had one rushing touchdown. The defense held their ground as Clarkson Everest could not produce any points. This year, the Panthers have showed signs of a solid start with a commanding 34-14 victory in their first game over Michigan Lutheran Seminary. This was a huge confidence booster for the team since their season was actually ended by MLS last year in an upsetting Regional title playoff loss.  Highlights from the season opener include a beautiful pass from Tate Hausbeck to Sam Buckingham ’19  that led to a 40 yard touchdown. On the defensive side, Zaiden Mitchell ’20 came up with a key interception and Tomas Sapak ’18 recovered a loose ball that led to a touchdown. Their week two match up against Bad Axe was a victory by forfeit, due to a lack of players on the Hatchet’s team.

For Homecoming this year, Nouvel will face off against the Buccaneers of Flint Beecher. Flint Beecher has a record of 0-2, but that does not mean our Panther team is taking this game lightly. The last time Nouvel went up against Flint Beecher was in the regional playoff game in 2012 and our Panthers ended us losing the game 19-15.

Looking ahead to this week’s match-up, the Panthers face the flames St. Thomas Aquinas for their first home game.
