Meet Our Next Governor Mark Schauer

On the 29th of October, I had the opportunity to meet the man I believe will be the next Governor of Michigan, Mark Schauer. I asked him about a few key issues leading into the election.

Right to Work:

According to Schauer, “it needs to be repealed and that this law does not empower non union workers it weakens them as well because unions are the backbone of the middle class and without them our middle class will shrink.”

Education:

As the son of a teacher, Schauer believes we need to increase education spending because MI is not doing very well. “I know what teachers need to be most effective as well as students.”

Pension Tax:

“Why are we attacking senior citizens who gave us 40 years of a good honest work and now they do not have  money to be taxed at high rates rather we should get rid of tax cuts that benefit the mega rich and corporations.”

These comments tell me and hopefully, show everyone that Mark Schauer is in touch with the average Joe and he knows what the middle class needs. Rick Snyder does not and will never know because he has never been a middle class man, he has always been a corporate elitist. Snyder has long supported an anti- worker agenda which was pushed by fringe right wing groups like ALEC, Koch brothers and Dick Devos. I agree with Schauer that we need to eliminate these big business corporate interest groups and bring our economy back. Michigan has the 4th worst unemployment rate at 9 percent largely because of right to work and Snyders failed economic policies which can be reversed if we decide to vote him out and elect a man of the people.

Hopefully, if Mark Schauer is elected to serve as Governor of Michigan, we will see real growth in our state, much like the rest of the country has begun to see through 44 straight months of private sector job growth and 46 straight months of public sector job growth under President Obama.

EXTRA: It is very likely right to work will become a citizens initiative which would mean people would vote on it in November 2014 and most likely defeat it which would mean a higher turnout and a higher turnout means more democratic voters. Gary Peters is facing Teri Lynn Land for Carl Levins senate seat as well.

Prediction: Schuaer wins by 3 and RTW is defeated on the ballot. Gary Peters beats Land by 6 and Dems hold the seat.
