Who Cares?

As the weather warmed up and the number of days until spring break wound down, there was a definite buzz going around Nouvel Catholic Central. But not only was there excitement for spring break ’12, no, it was much more than that. The senior class is starting to get anxious for graduation. With Senioritis infecting everyone in sight, we all just want to ask the question, “who cares?” Let’s face it, after spring break any motivation that was there in my senior class is now gone, in fact I’m sure the motivation has been diminishing for a while. This year the majority of the senior class chose to go to Siesta Key, Florida to soak up some sun and enjoy the white sand beaches. Senior Sarah Mooney says, “my family had been planning this trip for a while! We aren’t following the crowd and going to Siesta Key but I’m still looking forward to the sand and sun!” Sarah continued saying that “when I come back from break you don’t even understand how hard it will be to focus. I mean we will be graduating so soon after, it’s unreal.” Spring Break this year started on April 5 and went until the 15th. After that there was only three weeks to prom and only two weeks after that until it is the senior’s last day (well, really only one week considering one of those two is senior week!). So, looking at this realistically, there was about 4 actual school weeks left upon our return from those Southern states. That means just enough time to get our last minute cramming in as teachers try to teach us all we need to know. Also, it’s AP test time, which we have been dreading all year long! But after that, and hopefully not too many final exams, we are done. Where did all this time go? I know, I know seniors this is the home stretch, but it’s not getting any easier now. Even though this warm weather makes us want to go outside and the numerous counts going down in almost all of our classrooms is making it hard to sit still and take notes we need to pay attention! “Who cares?” should not be our mantra yet, we need to finish strong! This year is coming to a close but just remember it’s not over yet!
