Here at Nouvel, multiple students play a travel sport for a team outside of the school as well as a sport at the school. One of them would be Madison Looby. Madison plays travel soccer for the club team Nationals, which is a highly-ranked program in the state of Michigan, and at Nouvel, she plays basketball for the Girls Varsity team.

Interview:

Q: How do you manage your time with playing two sports?
A: Time management for me is not always bad but it has its days. For the most part, I’m not overwhelmed with much homework and I normally do my homework right after school or right after my practices.

Q: Which sport do you enjoy more and why?
A: I personally enjoy soccer more than basketball. Soccer has always been my favorite sport since I was a kid and I’m better at soccer than I am at basketball.

Q: What does your normal schedule look like when you are in season for both sports?
A: When it comes to basketball season and soccer I rarely have time to do other things. I have soccer 3 days a week from 7-8:30 at SVSU and for basketball, I have practice right after school from 3:15-4:45 every day. And on Fridays, I have basketball training from 5:30-6:30. My weekends are mostly packed with games on the weekend out of town or out of state.

Q: Do you want to go to college to play a sport? If yes, which one?
A: I would love to play soccer in college but as of now I am not sure as to where I would like to go.

Q: Where’s the farthest you’ve traveled for soccer?
A: The farthest I have traveled for soccer was to California for a showcase. I will also be going again this year.
