The Guard of Honor

Annually, during the Catholic Schools Week, the Nouvel Honor Guard transfers over to the new candidates. The group consists of Nouvel Juniors that become Seniors next year and then hand off the tradition to the next group. The group was created by former religion teacher Mrs. Perry who thought that we should add something to the Mass. Before Mass and other school events, the group processes in with the Nouvel Cross to a drum beat and places it in the area that is designated for it. Then the group places a shawl on the cross that is color coordinated with the type of Liturgical season. After mass, before the closing song, the Guard proceeds out with the cross. The new members on the group this year included as followed: Kegan Wholahan, Kenny Kujawa, Tate Hausbeck, Will Jeraema, Sean Nowasaka, Nick Flemming, Justin Kuligowski, Steven Ray, Thomas Sapak, and Hunter Skrownski.  This group of young men was chosen by the old group of guys that was on the Guard. After the they get selected by the Guard, Br. Bartels, the Honor Guard Adviser has the final say if they are qualified to uphold the duties  The group also does a few fundraising events that are mostly at the St. Thomas Fish Fry’s to raise money for new ties. From the old Honor Guard to the new, luck and have fun.
