The girls wrapped up a fun and exciting season with a nice showing at their May 15th Regional competition at Midland Community Tennis Center. The team came in confident after back-to-back wins over Bangor John Glenn and Hemlock to end the regular season. Lone senior, Mary McCarthy was glad to get a win on her senior day and felt proud of the team’s season as whole. It was a young group, eager to improve for the years to come. Unfortunately, the team fell short of the necessary 18 points to qualify for States, but McCarthy added that “many of the matches were closer than the final score showed, this was the most team atmosphere I have been a part of in my time.” Congrats to the Ladies on a great season!

So far, so good as the Nouvel Panthers are a solid 8-3-1 in their regular season. The team is gaining chemistry and are really starting to work in coordination with one another. They finished second in the Nouvel Soccer Invite, as they tied two games and won one, losing to an Ann Arbor team who tied one game and won two games. There are only a handful of games remaining in the 2015 season, and the Panthers are looking to finish it off strong. Good Luck to the Panthers as they strive to finish what they started in the beginning of the spring! GO BLUE!

Nouvel’s Varsity Baseball team has made remarkable progress in their last few games. The panthers not only tied in their first game with Heritage, but also beat the Hawks in their second game on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. The panthers kept their good progress going by mercying Everest Collegiate High School on Thursday, April 30, 2015. That weekend on Saturday, May 2, 2015, the team won their home tournament, hosting Hemlock, Ithaca, and Arthur Hill. Due to weather struggles, a make up game was scheduled against John Glenn, but the panthers broke their winning streak; however, Junior, Cameron Fluder, led the team with three RBI’s while playing the Bobcats. Valley Lutheran High School came to the panthers home field on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, but the panthers worked diligently to defeat the chargers. Nouvel then traveled to Midland High School on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, yet were defeated by the chemics. Junior, Aaron Dise, becomes anxious for play offs to begin, “We are improving as Districts start to approach,” he says. Districts will be held at Nouvel Catholic Central and will begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. The panthers are expecting a large crowd, so come to support!

Boys and girls track have both been doing exceptionally well this season. At their last regional meet, the boys team did great and as a result qualified for states. Junior Jason Russell qualified for the 100m, junior Jacob Gray qualified for both shot put and discus, and sophomore Robi Stuart qualified for shot put. In addition, 4x100m team Jason Russell, Jacob Gray, senior Connor Mooney, and sophomore Tyler Sprague qualified as well. For the girls’ team, junior Lauren Nowosatka has qualified for states individually for pole vault. Congratulations to both the girls and boys on all of their accomplishments throughout the season and good luck to the athletes moving onto states!
