Tradition Returns

Nouvel Football is very special, not because of all of the victories, the numerous playoff appearances, or even the state championships, but rather what makes Nouvel Football so special is the rich tradition. On Friday September 30th, tradition returns to the gridiron for the second annual alumni football game. Players from all different graduating years come back to play on Boyd Field for old times sake.

This year instead of the current football team playing the alumni it is the graduating year that will separate the teams, even vs. odd years. Even though this is an exhibition game expect the competition level to be through the roof. As the football team experienced first hand last year these alumni coming back mean business and expect them to do whatever it takes to win. Some notable alumni who are returning include state champions Nick Hammis 11′, who played football at Northwood, Bennett Lewis 11′, who played for Hillsdale, and Joe Buchalski 11′, who chose to play baseball at Oakland. Also rumored to be playing is former University of Michigan fullback John McColgan who himself won a state championship at Nouvel in 2006. The returning MVP of the alumni game is Mike Quiroz, who was the quarterback for Nouvel in the early 2000’s, will be back ready to sling the ball around to his fellow Panther Alumni.  #TraditionNeverGraduates
