Week 2ish NCAA Men’s Basketball Top 10
|Mr. Kessler- Newspaper Advisor
NCAA Football is hitting its prime towards the end of November. Every week the playoff standings are released, giving the pundits something to fire their hot takes at. Which one of the SEC 2-loss teams should be in? SMU is currently on the outside looking in while being a 1-loss team in the ACC with their only loss being to a Big 12 leading BYU team. The Big Ten is looking dominant with 4 teams in the top 5 (until Indiana gets destroyed this week by Ohio State).
But when is the Big Ten going to get back to its dominance in basketball? It has been 25 years since the last National Title from a Big Ten team, and I don’t think this is the year to buck the trend. Yes Purdue has a big win over #2 Alabama, but that may have been some Mackey magic, as they then went on the road and lost to a good, but not great, Marquette team. Wisconsin beats #9 Arizona at home, but then gets taken to the wire at home by UTRGV. No, that’s not a random TV network, that’s a basketball team (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley… naturally). Michigan St. looks shaky. Illinois struggled to get past a bad Oakland team.
Where has my Big Ten gone?
Anyways, here is the top 10:
10) Marquette (begrudgingly)
9) Tennessee
8) North Carolina
7) Duke
6) Iowa St.
5) Auburn
4) UCONN
3) Gonzaga
2.) Kansas
1.) Kentucky– Nobody has a win better than their win over Duke in the Champions classic.
