Last Friday the annual Hoops for the Homeless game took place at the Delta College Gym. Although, Nouvel did not take home a win against All Saints, it was a very successful event. Both the Nouvel and All Saints community almost met the set goal of $10,000 for Rescue Ministries of the Mid-Michigan area. Not only were the participants in the annual game appreciated but also all of the people who contributed in the bake sales, half-time 3 point contestants, Jean Day Contributors, T-shirt buyers, raffle basket donors, hamster ball participants, 50/50 buyers and sellers. Nouvel would also like to thank the Band and Drumline who kept the beat going throughout the game and who also continuously dropped coins in our boxes throughout the last two months. Lastly, Nouvel would like to personally thank all of the other volunteers who were behind the scenes in helping reach the goal of $10,000. We should truly be proud of the contributions we made as a school and community. It is truly amazing that such a small community can raise and solve hunger locally like we did at the Hoops for the Homeless Game. Hunger is one of the largest crisis of humanity. In fact, if you want to contribute to solving World Hunger you can donate online through the World Food Program USA (wfpusa.org). We should be proud, not only to be a Panther but, a Steward of the Faith when solving the problems of local hunger.
