Even with exams and winter sports in full swing, it is important for students to take a break and enjoy themselves. No one wants to sit at home on a Saturday night when they could be out taking advantage of the amazing winter weather. There is such a large number of fun activities that only the winter can bring to the table. Sledding, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowball fights, and more! The best part is that you don’t have to go very far in order to take part in the fun.

1. Sledding: Numerous parks in the Tri-City area are home to giant hills that are perfect for sledding. A popular one is Vet’s Park, located in Bay City. But nothing beats Memorial Park in Frankenmuth. Complete with over five different monster hills and other smaller hills perfect for younger kids.

2. Ice Skating: The Saginaw Bay Ice Arena is the perfect place to go ice skating during the cold winter months. They offer different open skate hours that can be viewed at http://www.gsaha.net/page_content.php?PageID=106

3. Skiing/ Snowboarding: If you aren’t looking for a long drive, Apple Mountain is always a great place for new snowboarders and skiers. If you are willing to drive a little farther , Caberfae in Cadillac, MI, is said to have some of the best slopes around. And is well worth the two hour drive.

4. Post Fun Hot Chocolate: An obvious choice for a warm hot chocolate or coffee would be Tim Hortons. All of their drinks are highly ranked in taste and in price. If you are looking for a post fun meal, they are also a good choice. However, the best place to stop at after a fun day of winter activities in Tony’s. They are located all over the Saginaw area, and the food is top notch. After all, what beats all day breakfast?

Make sure to take advantage of the snow and winter season while it’s still here. And don’t forget to have fun!
