Frankenmuth Gets Served by Nouvel Panthers for Regional Title

The hard work has finally paid off for Nouvel Girls’ Varsity Tennis as they come away from Friday as Regional Champs. Beating Frankenmuth by only two points (27 to 25) every single point counted in the back and forth matches between the two schools. Senior Claire Dijak, along with doubles partner Abby Hagen, won their three set match for the No. 1 Doubles title. Sophomore Mary Curtiss, No. 1 singles, came out on top as well. Curtiss came from behind to beat opponent Madison Mertz of Frankenmuth in their 3rd set. No. 2 (Seniors Kirsten Babinski and Amanda Harvey) as well as No. 3 doubles (Junior Molli Franz and Senior Lindsay Russell) won their matches as well, contributing to the Panther victory. Runner-ups included No. 4 doubles, Taylor Hengesbach and Alyssa Minnec, No. 2 singles Callie Hagen, and No. 3 singles Emma Patrick. Not only did the girls excel at tennis this season, but in school as well. Nouvel girls’ tennis was awarded academic all-state honors with an outstanding cumulative GPA of 3.9. In the Regional finals, Frankenmuth took second while Bay City placed third and Hemlock came in forth.
