Tennis TVC Champs!

The Nouvel Varsity Tennis team capped off their undefeated regular season with a Tri-Valley Conference Tournament win! After finishing second in the TVC last season, the ladies were focused this year on clenching the title. They were further motivated after a big win against cross county rivals Frankenmuth. The victory was the first time the Panthers had bested the Eagles, under head coaches Meghan Lawler-Aird and Kelsey Lawler Lucas.

“We have an incredible team this year! The ladies worked hard in the off season and continue to work hard. This year that hard work paid off with our team placing first in the conference in season matches and taking first place in the TVC tournament”, said Lawler-Aird.

Contributing to the season’s success is a stellar top twelve. At One and Two singles are Juniors Viviana Fabiano, and Ella Spence. At Three and Four singles are Seniors Alexis Kuligowski and Ashley McDonald. At One doubles is Senior Audrey Hirschman and  Sophomore Caroline Shaheen. Two doubles are Sophomores Beth Garner and McKenna Milka, and Three and Four doubles are a quad of Juniors; Julia Haddad and Julia Collison, and Ava Trevino and Bernie Klopp.

Collison and Haddad feel ready as they prepare for their last few matches of the season, “We are super confident. Throughout the season we really started playing well together and our tennis styles clicked. Our goal is to go far in States this year.”

The ladies next challenge will be the Regional competition Thursday, May 18, where they hope to win it all. Said Junior Viv Fabiano, “Looking towards Regionals, I think we have a great chance of winning! This would be the first time we have won under (coaches) Meghan and Kelsey.”

Added Lawler-Aird, “Coach Kelsey and I are very proud of the girls attitudes both on and off the court and we are very excited to see what the last few weeks of our season holds!”
