Panthers Press Toward Victory

The Nouvel Varsity Boys Basketball team has been doing very well, with a winning record of 8-3 after last night’s victory over Chesaning. MHSAA recently ranked them 17th in the state for Division 3.
On Saturday (1/14), the Panthers played in the MLK Showcase at Bishop-Foley and lost by 2 points in a very close game. MJ and Donny Yeager both led their team in points, scoring 14 points each. They then played at St. Louis on Friday (1/13) and beat them 69-32. Donny, MJ, and Preston Otter were the leading scorers, with Donny scoring 32. They also played against MLS (1/6) at home and won by 30 points. The high-scorers were MJ (33 points), Donny (18 points), and Preston (7 points and 8 rebounds).
Another season highlight came in a win at home against Kalamazoo Hackett (1/3), with a score of 82-68. Donny, MJ, and Preston led their team in points again, with MJ Yeager seting a new school record for career three-pointers, while also scoring 42 points. Alumni Preston Murphy held the previous record of 167 three-pointers, but it now stands at 182 (and counting).
