Unfortunately, another incredible FNV hockey season has come to an end. The Griffins lost to Petoskey 5-1 in Traverse City on St. Paddy’s Day with Freeland senior forward Spencer Dietrich scoring the lone goal. The Griffins ended the season with an impressive 11-5 record and the leading scorer was senior captain Brendan Maly. Maly ended the season with 16 goals and 21 assists, totaling 37 points. Juniors Connor Dvorak and Liam Simerson ended the year with 30 and 29 points respectfully. With Dvorak and Simerson returning along with defensemen Brady and Dylan Kingsbury and forward Peyton Essex, the Griffins are in good hands for years to come. While the future looks bright, the memories made by the 2021 FNV Griffins will live in the hearts of players for the rest of their lives. Let’s take a look at the favorite memories of the Griffins:

Q: “What was your favorite memory from hockey this year?”

Kyle Ursuy: “My favorite memory from this year is playing home games in front of a loud and rowdy crowd.”

Brendan Maly: ” My favorite memory was hanging with the boys and winning the conference championship.”

Christian Zamora: “My favorite memory was beating Davison 2-1.”

Dylan Kingsbury: “The camaraderie of our team and being with the boys every day was something I’ll never forget.”

Student Section Leader Jack Kujawa: “My favorite memory was easily the Macomb Dakota game, it was absolutely electric.”

All seasons must eventually come to an end, but the 2021 season was definitely one to remember. Congratulations to the FNV Griffins on a great 2021 season and all of us here at NCC Panther Print look forward to covering FNV in the years to come!
