Not everyone has access to a Thanksgiving meal.

Due to the recent shutdown, the annual National honors society food drive is for now being put on hold.  The food drive is usually done in a non- traditional month, but was originally planned for November because of such a huge need. This year we were teaming up with the elementary and giving the food to The food pantry at St. Peter and Paul  However, the food drive will not be canceled just postponed.  We are planning to come back on the 8th as of right now when we come back for face to face school and then a decision will be made as to when the food drive will be. Updates will be posted in the future. NHS member Senior Lauren Shaheen said ” It would have been nice to donate this holiday season, but I am still looking forward to donating food later on.”

Despite the NCC postponement, there are still other opportunities to help those in need. Most churches have a thanksgiving outreach this month where parishioners are able to donate a perishable Thanksgiving meal to people who need it. Check your bulletin or during your church announcements at this weekend’s mass. St. Dominic Parish provides a bag with a list of things to put in it and all you have to do is purchase the food then bring it back. It’s that easy! I hope you’re now encouraged to go help, so that together we can help ensure that those in need have a meal this year to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving!
