Covid 19 has had a huge impact on fall sports in the state with early decisions moving football to the spring for this year and potentially limiting the seasons of volleyball and soccer. However, just before Labor Day weekend, it was announced all fall sports will be played with some restrictions. First, masks must be worn during the game and on  the sidelines. Second, players and coaches will receive 2 tickets for family members. These will be the only fans allowed other than game volunteers.

With sports starting again students have their own opinions on new regulations with sports and Covid. Although both students may be frustrated with some of the new regulations, they are happy they get to play their season and the uncertainty of their seasons playing or not playing is out of the way.

Junior Theresa Lefevre, Varsity Volleyball:

What is is like playing with mask? ” It is very difficult, with communicating and you become out of breath much quicker.”

What is it like only having family allowed at games ” It’s different from past seasons because of the small crowds and not much noise and support like previous seasons.”

Volleyball tryouts were last Wednesday and you’ve only had one tournament since, how prepared do you think you are for the rest of the season? ” For how many practices we have had to so far we still have a long way to go”

When is your next game and who do you play? ” Our next game is Wednesday the 23rd against Ithaca.”

Junior Liam Simerson, Varsity Football:

Besides wearing a mask while playing are there any other regulations? ” Yes, we also have to bring our own water bottles to games and we have to social distance on the sidelines.”

How many spectators are allowed at a game? ” Each player gets two tickets per game and only one hundred people total are allowed.”

You have been practicing since since august and doing training in the summer how confident are you and your team? ” I’m very  confident in my team and i feel that we are very prepared.”

When is your next game and who do you play? ” Our next game is this Friday and against Ithaca.”
