Pink is a sign of strength! Over the month of October Nouvel has been bringing a lot of attention to Breast Cancer Awareness.  The Public Relations class at Nouvel put together many different fundraisers and activities to help raise money and awareness to this cause.

On the first week of October, Nouvel sold Game to Remember shirts during lunches and conferences, with earnings were donated to the cause. Nouvel also had a pay to wear jeans or sweats day. During the second week of October students sold pop cans at lunch along with the chance to leave a note to send to a friend. Bracelets and other sweets were sold, including gum, which lead to a bubble blowing contest, all proceeds going to St. Mary’s Seton Cancer Institute.

The third week students sold bracelets and had a prize wheel giving the students a chance to win special prizes such as a jean day or cookies. The week was finished off with the annual Game to Remember, which the varsity boys won 35-0. The final week, Nouvel had a Pink Out day, free ice cream floats offered at lunch and an end of the day assembly.  That evening the Varsity Volleyball team held their “Volley For a Cure” event, complete with contests and a bake sale. In total, Nouvel raised over $2100 for St. Mary’s Seton Cancer Institute.

Advanced PR Senior Manuel Arroyo said,“ I am very happy with how everything came together. Its crazy how all the students participated and were willing to try and encourage people to raise awareness and to raise money for the cost. It really shows you the heart of Nouvel.”
