The Nouvel track team is coming off yet again another successful track season for both team and individual competition. Last year the team was snubbed of its regional title after a point miscount in Breckenridge. After given the trophy and the multitude of pictures taken, judges had to confiscate the trophy and hand it over to Evart. The team lost seniors Jason Russell, Donovan Gomez, Jacob Gray, Dan Shuell, Meghan Matekel, and Lauren Nowosatka. The seniors Robi Stuart, Tyler Sprague, Maddie Sheridan, Matt Bartels, Charley Hengsbach, are returning to regain their thrown as regional champions. Over the summer and throughout the winter individuals like Matt Bartels have seemed to never stop running. Matt recently ran a 5k and a half marathon in Arkansas with his brother Joey (also a member of the track team), and his father Peter Bartels. Mr. Bartels has retaken the reigns of head coach after being given the role last year. Size doesn’t matter! The team is small but it is made up of athletic and passionate individuals.
