The Detroit Red Wings are playing their final season at the Joe Louis Arena, where they have played for the past 37 years. In that span, the Wings have won more regular season home games and home playoff games than any other team in the league, at 812 wins and 102 losses. After the 2017 season, “The Joe” will be torn down and gone forever. The Red Wings will play their future seasons in the Little Caesars Arena accompanied by the Detroit Pistons. The two teams will share the arena as the Pistons are leaving the Palace of Auburn Hills to return to the city of Detroit. Steve Yzerman reflected on his career at “The Joe’ by saying, ““The first time I stepped on the ice, I was in awe of the building,” Yzerman said. “I was in awe of the atmosphere. I felt that throughout my entire career.”
