As the hockey season comes to a close, the FNV Griffins plan to step it up in their last game going into playoffs. Friday, February 17th the Griffins played Ann Arbor at home and won 4-1. The next day, Saturday February 18th, FNV lost 3-0. Senior Robi Stuart says, “We lost according to the scoreboard but won in everything else” and further explains how the one goal they scored and got called back dampened their momentum. This past weekend the Griffins played at Ferris State University beating Big Rapids who is ranked in the state. The boys are hoping this gives them a bit of momentum going into the big district game. Thursday March 2nd is the big matchup between our FNV Griffins and the winner of Flint Powers vs. Heritage. Why is a small Catholic school playing D1 schools? Because hockey divisions go by school size, Freeland, Valley Lutheran, and Nouvel added together equal the population of a D1 school. The game will take place at Saginaw Bay Ice Arena with a puck drop of 7pm. Be sure to go out and support the Griffins as they finish off the season.
