The Nouvel Catholic Central Senior class, who participated in the Indoor Special Olympics last year, will be going to the Winter Special Olympics. The venue for this event is the beautiful Apple Mountain in Freeland, Michigan. The athletes that are participating are children with special needs. The Senior class will chaperone an athlete for the day taking them event to event cheering them on. Some of the activities that will be taking place are arts and crafts, sledding down the hills, and the most fun of all skiing. Hopefully after that, you aren’t too tired because there is also an intense game of broom ball that the athletes participate in. This spring, the Juniors will be heading out to Saginaw Valley State University for the Indoor Games. To sum up the event, all of the Seniors had a great time and realized that we all need to be more grateful for who we are. Not all of us can take the time out of our busy schedule to do this type of thing so it was very enlightening for all of us to go as a class. All of the Athletes were excited when they saw us there waiting for them and were eager to get their events going. One of the more popular events was the Cross Country Skiing which was followed close by the Snow Shoeing. Another event that pulled in the most visitors was the snowmobile rides up and down the mountain. When asking Nouvel Senior Miguel Monroy about they event he provide, “It was a very fun and life changing event and I would love to volunteer at this event again.”
