Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air as Valentine’s Day is getting closer and closer. Valentine’s Day began at a Roman Festival where boys and girls drew names from boxes. The person you chose then became your girlfriend or boyfriend, and you could even marry them at the same event. Today, things are a little different. Obviously your significant other is not drawn randomly from a box, and you do not automatically marry them after meeting. Instead, love birds buy each other flowers or chocolates to celebrate and share their love for each other. Often special events are even scheduled for a couple’s Valentine’s Day evening. Activities like going out to dinner or seeing a movie together are very popular dates for couples.

Although Valentine’s Day seems to be all about the love between couples, there are still many things to do if you are not in a relationship. In fact, Nouvel’s NHS is hosting a Sadie Hawkin’s dance on February 13th to celebrate this special occasion. This is a girls ask the guys dance, giving the females a chance to show their creative side when asking a special guy to the dance. This dance is not only for couples, as all are welcome. So, spend your Valentine’s Day hanging out with someone that is special to you, and consider spending a few hours at a super fun dance.
