Girl’s Basketball Update

The Lady Panthers’ season came to a dramatic close this past Tuesday, March 17th. In their final game of the season, Nouvel played Flint Hamady in the quarterfinals at Davison High School. Flint Hamady, a favorite to win the state championship, came out flat as the Panthers came out to a fast start, leading the Hawks at halftime by 6. The game got chippy in the second half as the Hawks climbed back to regain the lead in the 3rd quarter. After a few questionable calls and the dust settled, Nouvel lost to the Hawks 44-42 in a high emotion game. It was bitter sweet for junior Laurel Jacqmain, would fouled out in the closing seconds, but not before recording her 1,000th point, an impressive feat by a junior. Also notable was the senior Nicole Buckingham’s regional final performance. The 2015 Regional final win marked the fourth year in a row that Nicole had won a regional final in girl’s basketball. Thank you to the team for giving the student body and Nouvel community a season to remember. Special thanks goes to the seniors who put in their four years in the basketball program to leave it better than they had found it, with one state runner up and one state championship in their four years at Nouvel.
