As most of you know St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner.  Here are some interesting facts that most people may not know are part of the tradition:

1. We should really be wearing blue instead of green; it is said that St. Patrick wore a light shade of blue, and green came into play with the Irishmen.

2. Also, the shamrock was used as a sign of the Holy Trinity when he was introducing Christianity in Ireland.

3. There are only male leprechauns and some children choose to build a trap to try and catch them.

4. You can make a contraption with a net, boxes, a clean can, or anything else you can think of such as paper towel rolls, empty containers, tin foil, paper, string or yarn, sandwich bags, etc; or, how about using an old shoe since they are said to be cobblers.  Some tips and suggestions when creating your trap is to use rainbow around the trap, decorate with green clovers, put out some Lucky Charms because they tend to be attracted to the cereal, make sure you make your trap different than a friend’s because the leprechauns will get suspicious.  Last but not least, look out for gold or a trail of green glitter.

IS IT ST.PATRICK’S DAY YET? GO IRISH!
