As the air turns brisk, snow falls, and the winter season approaches, it’s a wonderful time to catch a flick. There are a variety of new movies coming out this upcoming season. Next time you are cold and feel like enjoying some buttery popcorn and relaxing in a toasty warm theater, check out some of the upcoming films.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1: The first part to the series’ two part finale is about Katniss’ (Jennifer Lawrence) journey to underground District 13 after President Snow (Donald Sutherland) destroys District 12 due to her escape after the last Hunger Games. The film also shows her meeting President Coin (Julianne Moore) who has a lot of influence on her becoming the symbol of the rebellion while trying to save her captive counter part Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) from the Capitol’s clutches. (November 21)

Big Hero 6: Big Hero 6 shows the heartwarming relationship between an inflatable robot Baymax (Scott Adsit), and inventor prodigy Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter). Both team up with a group of friends to form a high-tech hero league to stop the terrible masked villain from stealing Hiro’s inventions and using them for evil. (November 7)

Interstellar: Interstellar chronicles a team of space explorers who travel through a black hole in hopes of finding a new planet which will sustain human life. The earth is a wasteland and can no longer be inhabited. It is up to explorers Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and Brand (Anne Hathaway) to find a new plant for humans to live, but will their own lives pay the price? (November 7)

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies: The Battle of the Five Armies is the third instalment of the Hobbit series. The main character, Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and his comrades are forced to be involved in war against a flock of armed combatants and the Smaug. (December 17)

Into the Woods: Into the woods is a musical movie that recounts the famous fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Repunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy). They are all connected by a not-so-evil witch (Meryl Streep) that teaches them the error of their ways and goes behind the scenes to show them the true meaning of “happily ever after”. (December 25)
