A few weeks ago on Sunday October 19th the 18 year old Mantis roller coaster at Cedar Point went for the last ride of its life. Sources say that this roller coaster was not getting much business, and not very many people liked the idea of a stand up ride. When the Mantis opened in the spring of 1996, it was the tallest and the fastest stand-up roller coaster in world. On the plus side, it is being closed down so that it can be transformed into a new floorless roller coaster named Rougarrou. Park officials say it will be “a new and spookier experience for riders”. The Rougarrou is expected to open in the Spring of 2015.
