Baseball Season Preview

Buy your peanuts and crackerjacks because it’s time for baseball season! Unfortunately, due to the deep freeze that Michigan weather has brought us this winter, the baseball team has not yet been able to play any games nor have they practiced outside much. Headed by band director and former JV coach Dave Valasek, Nouvel baseball is adopting a new system this year. In order to further unify the junior varsity and varsity baseball teams, sophomores, juniors, and freshmen will alternate between the two teams. Only seniors and captains Jon Albosta, Alex Wehner, and Matt King will permanently remain on the varsity team. This way, all underclassmen must learn to communicate and work together. Coach Morley has returned this year to coach the pitchers on both teams. At Meet the Team on Sunday March 30^th, Coach Valasek said that he hoped this new unified team would help reestablish the tradition of a Nouvel state champion baseball team. This season, the boys’ varsity team will take on Heritage on Tuesday April 8^th and Swan Valley on Monday April 14^th. A big match up against John Glenn will take place at home on Tuesday May 6^th.
