College Football Update

The past three weekends have been filled with many exciting games for college football fans. In the first three weeks there has been many upsets and unbelievable finishes. Michigan and Michigan State both remain undefeated on the year.

Local Games
  • This past week Michigan survived a near upset at home by only defeating 28-24. Michigan’s defense finished strong with a stop when Akron was inside the five yard line.  With the win Michigan improved to 3-0 on the season.
  • Michigan State crushed Youngstown State (FCS) 55-17 to improve to 3-0.
  • Eastern Michigan lost 28-10  to Rutgers and fell to 1-2 on the season.
  • Central Michigan lost 31-21 to UNLV and fell to 1-2 on the year.
  • Western Michigan fell to Northwestern 38-17 who was ranked 17th nationally. Western Michigan is still looking for its first win of the season.
Game of the Week
  • Alabama held on to its number one ranking by beating Texas A&M who was the number six team in the nation.  The final score was 49-42. Alabama QB, A.J. Mccarron threw for 334 yards along with 4 touchdowns to help lead his team to the victory. Reigning Heisman trophy winner, Johnny Manziel had a huge game in the loss and accounted for 562 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Nouvel Alumni
  • Nick Hammis (Northwood University)- Nick recorded his first career reception this past weekend against Walsh University. The reception went for 17 yards.
  • Bennett Lewis (Hillsdale College)- Bennett Lewis had 10 carries for 52 yards and 2 receptions for 36 yards in his first career game, but did not play last week due to an injury.
  • Shawn Kamm (Michigan State)- Shawn saw action in last weeks win over Youngstown State.
