The boys varsity tennis team headed to states for the second year in a row last Friday in Holly, Michigan. The team played for regionals on October 11th at the Midland Community Tennis Center. Senior Sean Kelly won the No. 3 singles championship. The panthers finished second behind Garber and Frankenmuth. Junior Grant Hoffman says, “Having almost our entire team back this year gave us a good foundation for the season.” At States, Taehlor Rapin and Stone Kelly fought hard against Kalamazoo Christian but got knocked out in the first round. Congratulations to Patrick Shabluk and Stan Rokita who beat Sandusky for a big win. Great season guys!

The football team is 7-1 and they are looking better than ever. The boys just came off a win against Detroit Edison with the score of 39-0. Ryan Sullivan rushed for three touchdowns and Khristian Goode caught three touchdown passes. Garrett Graham threw for two touchdowns and Nick Ludka added another touchdown throw. Two weeks ago, the panthers beat their rival from the north,Traverse City St. Francis Gladiators, with a final of 28-14. The panthers were down in the second half but then brought it back with an 85 yard kick return for a touchdown by Tyler Hendricks. This Friday the panthers play the Freeland Falcons at home. This will be the panthers last regular season home game so come out and show some support!

Nouvel girls’ varsity volleyball has had a great season. Last weekend they played in a tournament at St. John’s High School and went undefeated in pool play. They played against Bay City Central, Corunna, Ionia, and Lansing Catholic Central and beat all of them. When they made it to tournament play, they lost to Corunna in the first round. Last week they also played against Bay City John Glenn. This game was especially important because it was their pink out game for breast cancer awareness month. In this match, it was best out of five and they beat Bay City in the first three games. They had 20 aces which is a big accomplishment! On Saturday, they won eight of 11 matches at the Garber Invitational and played very well throughout it all, but lost to Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in the finals. The season is coming to a close, but the girls have high hopes to go far and bring back a championship this year. Make sure to come out and support your lady panthers!

The Golf team has had an amazing season this year, led junior captain Mary McCarthy and senior Rachel Barry, and they finished their season as number 7 in the region in a hard fought battle last Thursday.  The team was lead with a 96, and number one ranked senior Rachel Barry got a 100.  This was a great way to send off the senior girls, Rachel Barry, Taylor Schefka, Stephanie Curtis, and Jessica Kontur, two of which played in the regional finals. Senior Rachel Barry said that their team got a lot closer and really improved though out the season.  Congratulations on such a good and memorable season ladies!
