Spanish Club– Prepárate porque el club español está de vuelta! That’s right! After complications due to a frequent change of an adviser, the Spanish Club is back! With Profersora Garthoff taking the reins, Spanish Club is showing a lot of promise. Leading the small but growing club is Gwen Giallonardo as President and Lourdes Kirksey as Vice President. There will be fundraisers coming up this year to help the Spanish Club build back up with the possibility of another trip this year! As always, the Spanish Club made a splash at the Homecoming Parade with their colorful costumes and banners. If you’re interested in this budding club then stop by Profesora Garthoff’s room!

 

SADD– Students Against Destructive Decisions is a club dedicated to promoting good choices and safety to students of all ages. This club covers all subjects such as drinking and drugs to bullying. Last year, the focus of the club was stopping the spread of rumors and keeping an open mind about your peers. With their Hulk-themed Homecoming float slogan being “Be Smashing, Not Smashed”, SADD will try to focus on the prevention of underage drinking and drunk driving this year. Stop by and see Mrs. Chaltraw if you’re interested in being a part of the positive promotion!

 

Students for Life – In line with our Catholic views on life, Students for Life is committed to promoting the protection of life at all stages, especially before birth. On Tuesday October 8, the Diocese hosted a Right to Life dinner at the Horizons Conference Center which 20 members of Students for Life attending. This Friday, Students for Life will be having a Pro-Life Chalk Day in which students may write a pro-life phrase on any sidewalk around the school in the hopes that all attendees of the Friday football game will see. Students for Life is going to be led by Ms. Zelley until the return of Mrs. Jacqmain. Any student may draw on the sidewalk either before or after school. See Ms. Zelley for more information!

 

Drama Club– It’s that time of year again! Rehearsals for the Nouvel’s Fall play “The Craving” will begin on Thursday, October 10th at 3:30 p.m. If you decided not to try out for the play but would still like to be involved with the production, don’t worry! Drama Club is welcoming any and all students that wish to assist with hair and makeup, set design and construction, costume design, and lights and sound management! No experience is needed! If you have a passion for the theatre, stop by the PAC on any weekday afternoon to learn the tricks of the stage!

 

Quiz Bowl – Beginning in late fall, the Quiz Bowl team competes in competitions across Saginaw County. If you are good at trivia games and love to test your skills against your peers, stop by Mr. Bartels’ room to sign up and become a part of the Quiz Bowl team! The first meet is against Sandusky on October 24th!

 

Spirit Club– Do you ever wonder where all of those cool Nouvel signs around the school come from? Well look no further! Nouvel’s Spirit Club, run by Mrs. Reitz, is responsible for all of the amazing signs that you see in the hallways and often at the football games! Meetings to make these signs and other spirited paraphernalia are always put in the announcements. If you love being a Panther and supporting your school, visit Mrs. Reitz’s room in the English hallway and sign up! Go NCC!

 

Science Olympiad – Are you fascinated by science? Do you like to test your awesome scientific skills? They come on into Mr. Bradtke’s room  and join the Science Olympiad Team! Each year, a group of students with a passion for science attend two invitationals and a regional competition at Delta College in the hopes that they will advance to Michigan State University for the State Science Olympiad competition. With over 20 events available, there is room for students with all types of scientific interests such as biology, chemistry, physics, and more! Stop by Mr. Bradtke’s room for more information!

 

Rube Goldberg – After a brief break due to scheduling issues and a cancelled competition, Rube Goldberg is BACK! The Rube Goldberg team is made for anyone that loves to design and build a complex machine. Rube Goldberg, a  cartoonist and inventor, was famous for performing the simplest task in the most complicated way. This year, the task is to be able to zip a zipper in at least 20 steps in about 2 minutes! The chosen theme is school supplies! Since the team is in the design phase, they will meet each Wednesday after school in Mr. Marshall’s room. Stop by and contribute your ideas!

 

Disc Golf: The Story of Tyler Quinn – Nouvel has a fun new club for disc golf enthusiasts like Tyler Quinn. We have a lot of people who are interested and we meet to go disc golfing with Tyler Quinn on Sundays. The group is led by senior disc golfers like Mitch Jurek, Allan Frank, and Tyler Quinn.  Our twenty members are broken up into groups with varying levels of experience, from novices like Dylan Schenpf, to pros like Tyler Quinn. No worries, if you don’t know how to disc golf, Tyler Quinn will help to teach you. And if you Sundays don’t work for you, just call up Tyler Quinn and see if he wants to go, chances are he does. If you don’t have discs, you can buy them from several places, to get a list of these places, just ask Tyler Quinn and he will be happy to tell you where to get good discs. So go find Tyler Quinn and ask him when the next meeting is because Tyler Quinn would love to have you in disc golf. Tyler Quinn.
