NCC welcomes Will Jones as new head coach for Ladies Varsity Basketball

Will Jones was recently introduced as the new head coach for the Lady Panthers varsity basketball team. Jones is a graduate of Pontiac Catholic and has been coaching for more than 25 years. Along with high school coaching, Jones is the head basketball coach for the AAU team Legion Basketball Group. Other high schools he has coached at include Bloomfield Hills Sacred Heart, Bloomfield Hills Andover, Berkley, and most recently Riverview Gabriel Richard. Last year he coached his team to the Class C state semifinals, losing to Manchester who went on to defeat Nouvel in the state finals. Jones will be commuting to practice from Pontiac where he owns his own printing company. Coach Jones has already met the parents and players, and they are confident that he is a good pick. All that is left is for the season to begin, with practice starting on Monday, November 11. Junior, Nicole Buckingham says, “We are super excited to have Coach Jones with us this year. It is one of our goals to get back to the state finals at the end of the season.” All of the players would agree that getting back to the Breslin Center is their goal. The team lost three seniors last year, but are looking to be strong again this year. They will be anchored by returning seniors Rachel MacInerny and Lindsey Stroebel. The players are dedicated and looking forward to working hard in hopes of getting back to the Breslin.
