After a great season last year, the Varsity volleyball girls are back and starting off the season right. They played a quad on Monday against Freeland, Carrollton, and Caro. They finished strong and won the quad. They made it to the second game in districts last year and plan to make it even farther this year and so far are looking great. Leading them is their coach, Jordan Beyerlein. They have four returning players from last year, three of which are seniors. The seniors on the team are Allie Kendall, Maria Buko, and Gillian Brown. They have been key components to the volleyball team and will be missed after this year. When talking to some of the girls, they said their biggest rival of the season will definitely be against St. Charles. Their first home game is a tri and is on Thursday. They will be playing against Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart and Midland Dow, so everyone come out and support your Nouvel volleyball girls!

The boys’ varsity soccer team has begun their season and is already four games in. They started off their season this summer with a team building mini vacation in Lake Charlevoix for a weekend. While they were down there, they competed in a tournament, where they did very well. They have two fantastic senior leaders, Nate Garpiel and Hugh LeFevere, who were voted as team captains. They have played four total games, which all ended in losses, unfortunately, but were all hard fought battles. The boys are staying positive and taking one game at a time to work towards playoffs and come out with some wins. Junior forward Logan Troester says, “We are doing well. The outcomes are not what we hoped for, but it happens. We are looking forward to the next game and keeping it positive!” Good luck boys!!

Fall has come and with it have come fall sports. Among Nouvel’s fall sports, one of the most promising this year is none other than girls golf. Led by coach Mrs. Deb Yats and team captain Mary McCarthy, the girls had a hard fought battle against Bay City Garber, which sadly, they lost by a mere 6 points. But the news isn’t all bad, team ranked number 1 on the team, Rachel Barry scored a personal record of 49 and team captain Mary McCarthy got her personal best of 50. The girls are looking forward to the Frankenmuth Invitational on Wednesday the 11th and are hopeful that they will come out of it with a win.
