Tribe 38: Back in Action

The Nouvel Boys Varsity Football Team is currently 1-3 after difficult losses to Ithaca, Carrollton and Millington.

Senior captain Joseph Tunney ’22 says “it was very nice to see all the students back in the stands after Covid and the cheering really helped.” The Nouvel Panthers are looking forward to their season and hoping to excel in their league. Senior captain Jonathan Tunney 22′ says, “It should be an exciting season because we have a lot of great talent on the team but also a very tough schedule. I feel like we have the potential to accomplish a lot of great things this year!” Senior captains Jonathan Tunney, Joseph Tunney, Liam Simerson, Samuel Bartels, Matthew Garcia, and Jeamy Pascual are leaders of this years Nouvel boys Football Team, also known as Tribe 38. The 2021 Football team is the 38th team playing at Nouvel, which is where they get the name “Tribe 38″. Starting quarterbacks for this years team is junior Kyler Peters and sophomore Preston Otter. Seniors Matthew Garcia and Samuel Bartels have been apart of the Nouvel Boys Varsity Football Team for 3 years, seniors Jonathan Tunney, Liam Simerson, and Joseph Tunney have been apart of the Nouvel Boys Varsity Football Team for 2 years, and senior D’Angelo Olvera has been apart of the Nouvel Boys Varsity Football Team for one year. The 2021 Nouvel Boys Varsity Football Team is a very young team this year, consisting of only 7 seniors and the rest underclassman including juniors and sophomores.

 

The Nouvel Varsity Football team is looking forward to playing MLS for their Homecoming game on Friday, September 24th right after the NCC parade. MLS is currently 1-2 in their league and has a very experienced and athletic quarterback who started last year as a sophomore that they need to watch out for. Senior captain Matthew Garcia 22′ says, “It should be a tough game but if we work together and play like we know how to we should succeed.” Senior captain Jonathan Tunney 22′ says, “MLS is going to give it their all because it is a rivalry game, but I hope we come out on top.” It should be a very close and exciting Homecoming game, so make sure to come out and support the Football team!
