Although ugly Christmas sweaters were heavily commercialized in the 1950s, they were popularized in the 80’s film, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Ugly Christmas sweater parties began being celebrated and wearing them became a norm during the month of December. The majority of us all have an ugly Christmas sweater by now, but do you think yours could pass the test?

See if you sweater is worthy of the “Ugly” Christmas sweater title by answering these questions:

Does it have sequins? (1 pt)

Does it have tinsel? (2 pts)

Does it have a bell/s? (2 pts)

Does it light up? (2 pts)

Does it have a repeated pattern of something Christmas related? (1 pt)

Does it have ribbon(s)? (1 pt)

Is it red or green? (1 pt)

Does it have a snowman, Santa, or a reindeer on it? (1 pt)

Does it have something sticking out of the sweater? (2 pts)

Is it a button up? (2 pts)

Does it have a cringe worthy phrase related to Christmas on it? (2 pts)

Tally your points:

1-4 pts: disgrace to all ugly Christmas sweater, add some tinsel or bells!

5-10 pts: it’s definitely an ugly Christmas sweater, but not the best!

11-15 pts: everyone wishes they had a sweater like you and no one can top it!
