After three years of no competition, the girls golf team is making a comeback! The team returns with 17 members and Senior, Lauren Shaheen, is the only returning member. The coach is former Nouvel teacher (and longtime sub) Jim Gaertner. Their first golf match was September 3rd against Freeland, where the ladies fought a tough battle and finished with 241 to Freeland’s 244. The ladies were thrilled to notch their first victory right out of the gate. Senior, Marirose LeFevre finished with a 55, junior, Megan Kuch with a 59, and Senior, Lauren Shaheen also with a 59. The seniors on the team are Lauren Shaheen, Jelina Murad, Jenna Kiss, Marirose Lefevre, Sophie Groya, and Katie Sullivan. Said Shaheen, “The sport isn’t majorly effected by Covid as its outside and distanced, but the coaches must wear masks. Also, due to volleyball starting again soon, some girls will have to make the decision between golf and volleyball.”
