Bleed Blue: Mr. Szymanowski Retires

Interview by: Joe Moskal ’16

After 33 years of service at Nouvel, Mr. Szymanowski is retiring. He has made an amazing impact on the Nouvel community during his time here, as mentor, coach, and teacher and most recently as a principal. Most of us know him as the person who makes us shave or tuck in our shirts, but there is much more to Mr. Sym than what we see in school. To see what he will be doing with all of his newfound time I interviewed him.

Now that your retired what are you going to spend your time doing?

I’ve always liked the outdoors, I just like to be outside. I was thinking of being a part time golf ranger just to be outside on the course. I was also going to spend time volunteering at different places in addition to this

How long have you been here?

Since 1982, when the school opened up

What’s your best memory at Nouvel?

Taking the 1989 girls to States as a coach, it was a lot of fun and I wish I could experience it again

Do you have any words of Wisdom to pass on?

Yes, “Bleed Blue”, be proud of your school and your colors, enjoy the time you have here, I hope this school and community continues to flourish and I will miss it.
