This week the Nouvel Varsity Golf team is preparing themselves for Regionals this Wednesday, October 7. The girls got off to a slow start in the beginning of the season with a record of 1-4, but through their hard work they have elevated their record to 7-4. Now, more ready than ever, the golf team is looking forward to finding success at Regionals with the Butko sisters, Emily and Lorissa, and Sierra Reitz leading the way for the rest of the team. Last Monday, Spetember 28, the girls successfully shut out Valley Lutheran, beating them with a final score of 216-176. Emily Butko states, “It’s going great! We’re hoping to go to states.” Coach Yats has confidence that the team as a whole will qualify as a team if the girls keep working on their short game. Improving at chipping and putting is the fastest way to cut strokes from the overall score. Mrs. Yats also says, “It’s been a great season. The girls are at the top of their games heading into Regionals. It’s an exciting time.”
