Everyone has dreams, and this man made his come true. You may know him as the man who sang “Michigan Christmas” but he is also a big Broadway star now. Brian d’arcy James once walked the very halls we are walking right now at Nouvel Catholic Central. He also performed on the same stage that a lot of our theatre kids have performed on. The first time the Nouvel theatre department showed “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” many years ago, Brian d’arcy James played the lead role of Joseph. He was just an average kid like all of us, however he went and made his dreams come true. After graduating from Nouvel, he attended Northwestern University with a major in Musical Theatre. Brian d’arcy James is now a three-time Tony award nominee, earning a nod for best actor in a leading role in a Broadway musical “Something Rotten!” Just after this musical opened it received 10 nominations, including best musical. The Tony awards will be shown on June 7, 2015, so tune in to see if Brian makes another dream come true! Brian stated in an interview with MLive, “It’s like this beautiful dream to even be in the mix. And the most important thing I’ve learned with past nominations is that it doesn’t necessarily matter if you win in the end. Sure, it’s nice to get the cherry on top but I’m very serious about this. The sense of appreciation is everything.” This man truly is an inspiration to all of us, and shows that dreams really do come true if we have the courage to pursue them. Good luck Brian! We are all rooting for you here at Nouvel!
