1. Elf- Arguably the greatest Christmas movie every created. Aside from the great plot, the film is full of great actors. Will Ferrell portrays the main character Buddy. The not so miniature elf is faced with a dilemma when he leaves the North Pole to go find his real family in the Streets of New York City.  In true Christmas fashion, Buddy not only finds his family, he spreads the cheer of Christmas to those who don’t believe.

2. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation– The great collection of the National Lampoon movies includes this classic for the holidays. When the family plans a Christmas vacation it (of course) turns into a giant disaster. The movie is hilarious as Clark, the father of the Griswold family, goes to the extreme to celebrate Christmas.

3. Home Alone– Personally my favorite, Home Alone takes place in the home of the McCallisters. When the family leaves for a Christmas vacation to New York, Kevin the youngest sibling is left behind. The eight year old is forced to protect his home from a pair of burglars who will do anything to get inside.

4. A Christmas Story– An average family with two young sons, is faced with the dilemma on whether to get their son his most wanted gift.  In the 1940s, a young boy named Ralphie attempts to convince his parents, his teacher, and Santa that a Red Ryder B.B. gun really is the perfect Christmas gift. To which they all seem to reply, “You’ll shoot your eye out!”

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas– On the outskirts of the small town of Whoville, there lies a mountain where the Grinch lives. The Grinch is not a fan of the Christmas season, trying to ruin it for all the town. When one little girl Cindy Lou Who finds out about the hatred the Grinch holds for the holiday, she plans to fill him with love and compassion. This classic Dr. Seuss tale is brought to life by comedian Jim Carrey in the title role. While the original animated version is more sentimental, the live action version is a true Christmas celebration.
