St. Patrick’s Day Fun Facts: 

1.  St. Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland. His feast day is March 17 and he lived from 387-461.

2. We should actually wear blue because that is what St. Patrick day wore and we only wear green because it is connected to Ireland.

3. St. Patrick was actually British, not Irish.

4. Chicago dumps 40 tons of dye into the river every year to make it green.

5. The shamrock represents it because the three leaves were used to represent the Trinity.

6. $245 million dollars are spent on beer every St. Patrick’s Day.

7. The first St. Patrick’s Day celebrated in the United States was in Boston in 1737.

8. It commemorates the arrival of Christianity into Ireland in 432.

9.  New York’s St. Patrick’s day parade is the world’s oldest civilian parade and the biggest in the United States.

10. According to Irish tradition, you should pinch someone who is not wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day.
