Panthers End Season with a District Title

After a heart-pounding District title win, the boy’s basketball season came to an end Wednesday, with a tough loss to the Beaverton Beavers in the Regional Championship game. The seniors showed a lot of composure and leadership during the right time during playoffs and the team came together at the right time securing their first District Championship in years. In the final game, Senior Christian Haraga led all Nouvel scorers with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Said Haraga, “We geled together at the right time and I am very excited to see what our next year seniors have to bring to the table.”
The District title was secured by defeating the Hemlock Huskies, winning 63-59 in double overtime. With 8 seconds left in regulation, big man Christian Haraga 17′, tied up the game to send it into OT. Haraga led all scorers with 23 points and tallied up 18 boards. Said seniors Haraga and Alex Dwan about their plan for Regionals, “We were very confident, our scorers were scoring and defenders defending. We went in feeling we could win and were very excited to see how we do.” The team defeated Mason County Central 52-44 in the first round of Regionals with a come from behind victory. The Panthers ended the season 13-12.
