Last Thursday marked the fourth consecutive year the lady panthers have taken home a Regional finals trophy, and it didn’t come easy. This past Tuesday, March 10th, Nouvel played Ithaca in the Regional semi-final. It was a close game with multiple lead changes. At the end of the third quarter, the Panthers led the Yellow Jackets by 8 points. The Jackets crawled back in the fourth quarter to tie the game up with two minutes left. At the end end of regulation, the game was tied 59-59. In the four minutes of overtime, the Panthers pulled away, making their free throws in the closing minutes to win 69-66. After the stressful victory against Ithaca, Nouvel traveled back to Millington to play for the Regional final against the Patriots of USA. The game was close in the first quarter with the Panthers only edging the Patriots by two points at the end of the first quarter. The crowd rallied behind the crowd and watched the Panthers outscore the Patriots 23-9 in the third quarter to take a 16 point lead into half. In the second half, Nouvel grew their lead and had a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter. Nouvel beat the Patriots for the second time this year, 60-38, to claim another Regional final trophy. The ladies travel to Davison on Tuesday, March 17th, to play Flint Hamady in the quarterfinals. Come out and support in the student section as the girls make another run to the Breslin!
