Aristotle once said \u201cin all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.\u201d This statement could not be a better description of this year\u2019s prom theme, \u201cFireflies in the Moonlight\u201d. Prom 2014 was a truly magnificent and enchanting experience for all in attendance. Upon walking into the Swan Valley banquet hall, students were able to stand under an arch woven out of branches and lights to take their pictures. The banquet hall was filled with nature-centered decorations including woven branches and mason jar candles at every table. Each table was cleverly named after a type of tree. In addition to the new venue, prom also featured a free photo booth, which was easily a huge success. Most students averaged about four to five visits to the attraction. Staying true to the theme, the dessert bar was campfire-themed, with cookies and straws in cups able to be filled with milk and homemade s’more cookie-brownies among other delicious treats. When the sun began to fall over the horizon, the banquet hall was filled with ambient lighting as students hit the dance floor. Knowing that this was their last dance, seniors truly cherished these hours before they made their way over to Kokomo\u2019s for a post prom celebration.<\/p>\n

At the popular family fun center, students were able to not only race go-karts but also ride Mid-Michigan\u2019s only roller coaster, \u201cThe Serpent\u201d. Upon receiving a challenge from Mr. Rocha, Allan Frank took on his teacher in an intense game of putt-putt golf. Besides the outdoor attractions, students were able to play arcade games upon purchase of tokens. Even in the early hours of the morning, students were just as committed to getting their precious tickets to win that special prize. Following tradition, post prom also had drawings throughout the night for different prizes such as gift cards, movie\/candy packages, and even a quesadilla maker! Senior Christine Nisula was more than thrilled to win this most coveted prize. The dedicated Kokomo\u2019s staff provided pizza and refreshments all night. With all of the excitement, students had no time to feel tired until the very end of the night. Many left Kokomo\u2019s reluctantly, knowing how memorable the night had been. With great music, calming decorations, and a great after-party, students truly couldn\u2019t \u201cfight the moonlight\u201d at this year\u2019s unforgettable prom.<\/p>\n
