It\u2019s that time of the year again Tigers fans! It\u2019s the postseason, and the Tigers are off to a great start. They barely snuck into the playoffs, winning the American League Central division by one game over the Cleveland Indians, who lost the Wild Card game. The Tigers took on the Oakland Athletics in the American League Division Series. In Game 1 in Oakland, the Tigers won 3-2, scoring all three runs in the first inning off of A\u2019s pitcher Bartolo Colon, and potential Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer pitching a dominant game. In Game 2, the Tigers sent ace Justin Verlander to the hill against A\u2019s rookie Sonny Gray and it was a pitcher\u2019s duel for the ages. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the ninth, when A\u2019s catcher Stephen Vogt hit a walk off single to give the A\u2019s the 1-0 win, and to tie the series at 1-1. Game 3 returned to Detroit, where the Tigers fell to the A\u2019s 6-3. The Athletics belted three homers off Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez, and their closer Grant Balfour got into a confrontation with Tigers DH Victor Martinez. Facing elimination, the Tigers gave the ball to Doug Fister in Game 4. Down 3-0 early, Jhonny Peralta hit a three run shot to tie the game up. Later, Victor Martinez hit a controversial homer to pump up the crowd. Scherzer came on in relief, and the Tigers won 8-6. Game 5 went back to Oakland, where it was a rematch of Game 2 starters Verlander and Gray. Verlander went eight shutout innings, Miguel Cabrera hit a two run homer, and the Tigers won the game 3-0, and the series, 3-2. They now head to Fenway Park in Boston to take on the Red Sox in the best of seven American League Championship Series. Go Tigers!<\/p>\n
