Whether it was \u201cThanks Mark, that was awesome\u201d, Jesse Manibusan wanting to be a \u201cbeatle\u201d, seeing Fat Young getting pied in the face or watching Mr. Marshall do cartwheels, any assembly was always a good one.<\/p>\n 2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Papal Election \u2013 This year\u2019s papal election was\u00a0exciting for our school. We enjoyed picking our own cardinals (even though we all lost) and going out in the cold weather to attempt to make white smoke. Habemus Papam!<\/p>\n 3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Girls Basketball \u2013 This year\u2019s run to the Breslin was a remarkable one for our girls basketball team, who hasn\u2019t been there since 2007. Seniors Taylor Hengesbach, Paige Albito, and Shelby Sawyer led the team to MSU, where our student section rocked neon and we received some entertainment from Nick Ludka and Thomas Minbiole.<\/p>\n 4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mrs. Joynt and Mrs. Sullivan \u2013 If this didn\u2019t unite our school and community, I don\u2019t know if anything will. There is nothing more special than one mom offering to help save the life of another. The emotional prayer service at Holy Spirit united our community and redefined what it means to be part of the Nouvel family.<\/p>\n 5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mr. Hoving\u2019s new addition \u2013 We knew Mr. Hoving was a good Christian man when he took the job at Nouvel, but we didn\u2019t know he could perform miracles. He has the joy of raising six kids, and this past year he delivered baby Martin at home by himself. When MLive interviews you about something like that, it\u2019s kind of special.<\/p>\n Worst 5<\/p>\n 1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Wallet Incident \u2013 No comment.<\/p>\n 2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Teacher Departures \u2013 We lost two of our most influential teachers this year in Mr. Novak and Mrs. Perry. Mr. Novak went on to win the election and became Saginaw Co. Treasurer, while Puff Mama went back to get her masters. We\u2019ll miss Mr. Novak\u2019s fist pumps during lectures and Mrs. Perry\u2019s saying \u201cNo sex, no drugs, no alcohol, your bodies are temples of the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n 3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Paws Death \u2013 This year was tragic due to the fact that we lost our school\u2019s mascot Paws. Paws was always a friend to everyone and loved to be petted in the hallway. He would post up in Mr. Rocha\u2019s room all day every day. RIP.<\/p>\n 4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Father Albrecht\u2019s Death \u2013 Although most of us did not know him, he was very good friends with the\u00a0many of the\u00a0teachers who were here when he was the Nouvel chaplain for nine years. He always came to our annual reconciliations in the CFM. Once a Panther always a Panther. RIP.<\/p>\n 5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chicken Nuggets \u2013 I don\u2019t know the sequence of events that led from the chicken nuggets being amazing my freshman year to being somewhat awful now. They are burnt, meatless, and when you burp you can still taste it.
